Five Twefths Complete
Ok, so a week in to June and I'm a little behind in my reading. I'm blaming our vacation at the end of May. Anyways, holding myself accountable, here is the progress I've made since last time.

Two Twelfths Complete
I have now completed two twelfths (or more commonly referred to as one-sixth) of the Bible. I am still super pleased and proud of myself. I am still going at least once a week to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf after work on Tuesdays to read. I am still journaling about what I'm reading. I'm still using Bible Study Tools. And I'm still really enjoying spending that time in God's Word.

One Twelfth Complete!
My goal for the year was to read the Bible, the entire way through. I've tried several times and for whatever reason I have always struggled to complete it. But not this time. This time I will persevere! I've got God on my side, so there's no reason why I can't do this!!!
And I've gotten into a nice routine. Tuesdays after work I head to a coffee shop not far from work and I read for about two hours. I learned quickly that I focus better on what I'm reading if I take notes. I'm keeping them in a journal and I think it'll be cool to have that down the road to remember what passages really spoke to me at this time in my life and what I took away from the readings.
I do have a Bible Through the Year book that I had initially intended on using, but after looking at it, it wasn't really what I needed for this endeavor. So instead I've printing the classic reading plan from Bible Study Tools. It is exactly what I need.
And as of today I have completed 1/12 of the Bible. Ok, not a huge accomplishment, but I am well pleased with myself. And I'm also looking forward to my coffee date tomorrow after work.

My 2011 Goals
The goals I set for last year, well, let's just say...I sucked at them. I made a list of 20 books that I was going to read. Well I didn't finish all of them. I also planned on running the Disney Half Marathon. Yup, that didn't happen either. So, here are my two goals for 2011. Hopefully I'll have more luck this year!
1) Finish my 2010 list. I'm about half way through, so it shouldn't be too hard.
2) Read the Bible--cover to cover. I have a Bible in 365 days book that I'll be using. Please pray for me on this one. It's challenging, but totally worth it!

Lesson 58-Reading List Update
At the beginning of the year I gave myself the goal of reading 20 books this year. This is definitely a challenging task since I don't read near as much as I should or would like to. The year is a little more than half way over and I thought I would share with you my progress. Here are the books I've finished so far:

I know I'm behind the times reading this one. I wasn't sure if I could handle the sad nature of the story. But I finally buckled down and did it and I loved it! So thought provoking.

Another fantastic book. Greg Mortenson is doing such remarkable work. I think everyone should be required to read this. He is definitely changing our world.

And that's as far as I've gotten. If you've been counting you'll realize I'm not even half way through my list yet, but I still have faith I'll finish all 20 books. I'll be back later with another update.

I read this one on our vacation to England and Ireland. This is the third? time I've read the book and I love it more and more every time. The story is just so powerful. And so timeless. Harper Lee is a genius in my opinion.

This was the other book on my list that I had read before. The first time I read it was shortly after being initiated in to my sorority. It was interesting reading it again having gone through the sorority process and being a few years out of college. Luckily my sorority appeared scandal free in the book!

I really love reading books by Donald Miller. This one took a little longer to get 'hooked on' but was a good read with some really great points about life. And I love his dedication at the beginning of the book--so sweet.

I always say I love reading, but don't do it nearly often enough. So with this New Year--and new decade--I am challenging my self to read 20 books. That's about one book every 3 weeks. Pretty attainable--I hope.
