Another Seaside Dinner

My friends, it's hot!  I left work today and it was 115*.  I would love, love, love to have some cooler weather.  To decorate for fall before Thanksgiving.  But that just doesn't make sense.  Anyways, this tablescape cooled me off just looking at it.  Well, refrigerated air might have helped too.

Cool Blues

We had some friends over for dinner the other night and threw together a table scape while fixing dinner.  It's another one where I just used whatever I had on hand.

It's nothing too spectacular, but it was just right for our dinner night.  And it was really easy to clear off so the grown-ups could play Phase 10!

I needed a tablescape, but I didn't really have anything in mind.  So I just kinda started pulling things out and putting them on the table.  It's not spectacular, but I kinda like the way it turned out too.

Remember earlier this week, I mentioned we had Husband's parents over for dinner?  Today I'm gonna share the tablescape I set up for dinner.

I started with a beige tablecloth.

And added a fish net as a table runner.

Added some cream placemats

And some silver chargers.

And seashell napkins and napkin rings.  Remember when I got these napkin rings super cheap, here?

I tied some twine around my white candle and stuck it in one of my lanterns.

And stole some decorations from our bathroom.  Shhh, don't tell anyone!  ;-)

And outside I put up my seashell wreath, so our guests had a little preview of what their dining experience would be like.  But I'm sure they didn't realize it till later, but that's ok with me!

Here is the first Fourth of July tablescape I've ever done.

I started with a tablecloth I got years ago when I was still in college...from Target I think.  

The place mats are from HomeGoods ($6.99 for all four). 

The white plates are Husbands from his bachelor days, so I have no info on them.

The red plates I got a Target in February for Valentine's ($1.79/each).

The star plates are from Michael's ($1.00/each).

The napkins are from World Market ($2.99/each).  A little more than I normally pay for napkins (cause I'm a cheapo, but I'm also a sucker for anchors).

The glasses are from Hobby Lobby (don't remember how much they were, but we bought 'em when they were 50% off).  The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby too.  The coasters are also Husband's so I don't know anything about their history either.

The pails are from the Dollar Spot at Target, with stars and pinwheels from Hobby Lobby (only $1/each).  The candle is from HomeGoods ($7.99).  The mini-cake plate I made with things found at GoodWill. 

 

With lots of layers and patterns, I'm loving the way this turned out.

 The white place mat is from Bed Bath & Beyond that I got at an end of season sale when I was working there.  With my employee discount I think I only paid about a $1 for each one.

 

Now to plan a yummy Independence Day meal to complete the celebration...
