Weekend Recap 7/29-7/31

Friday afternoon I dragged my momma and Husband to Party City to pick up some supplies for my upcoming Bunco party.  Afterwards, we headed to My Big Fat Greek Restaurant for dinner.  It was delicious as usual.  After dinner Husband and I thought it would be fun to take my mom to Cabella's.  We had to hide all the snakes from her, but we had a lot of fun walking around and eating a little fudge.

Saturday morning we had coffee at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.  I headed to World Market to buy my prizes for the Bunco party.  We had lunch with my mom's best friends kids that I grew up with.  The oldest is living in Tempe now working and his little sister came to visit for the weekend.  After lunch we came home and my momma fixed us a Lemon Meringue Pie.  She makes the absolute best!

Then it was time to take her to the airport.  I had a great time just hanging out and shopping and talking.  We did go shopping on Wednesday at Fashion Square.  We watched on "The September Issue" on Thursday.  And on Saturday we set up her Facebook account.  So we got 3 out of 5 things on my list accomplished.  Not too bad...

Sunday we had Husband's parents over for breakfast.  I somehow ended up with a lot of bread that I wasn't likely to use soon, so I made French toast and a lot of it too.  Then we went to IKEA to buy something I'm very excite about (more on that later).

Weekend Recap 7/22-7/24

Firstly, I would like to thank all of you that have commented recently with your sweet compliments and words of encouragements.  I am so blessed by you!  And if I was better at this whole blogging thing I would thank each of you individually but I haven't figured out how to respond to comments yet.  But please know I am truly thankful!!!!

Friday night, Husband I decided to try to Buffalo Wild Wings.  There's a local place, Native New Yorker, that we like to go to for buffalo wings and decided to give the big chain a try.  And we were very pleased with the experience.

Saturday was spent doing some errands like grocery shopping and such.  Then I started the cooking.  We had our friends and their two daughters over for dinner Saturday night.
Of course as soon as I started cooking I realized I didn't have all the eggs I needed for my cupcake recipe.  Husband walked across the street to our neighbors (who we just have a waving relationship with) to ask for two eggs.  Nice to know we have some neighborly neighbors!

I made Cheesy Ranch Potatoes and Oreo Cheesecake Cupcakes; Husband made steak and put together a beautiful salad.  I love that he likes to entertain as much as I do.  And even more, I love that he is so willing to help in the kitchen.  I am so blessed by him!

We had a great time at dinner.  They shared their dinner-time traditions of asking each person at the table three questions:
* What was the worst part of your day?
* What was the best part of you day?
*What was you greatest success today?
How awesome is that idea to get people talking and thinking about their days?  We may have to steal it ;-)
Then we stayed up way to late.  The girls watched Popeye while the grown-ups payed Phase 10 (and sadly neither Husband nor I won).

Sunday morning we were up bright and early to take our pups to the vet for their comprehensive exams.  Oliver got a little pedicure and Montana got her teeth cleaned.  Both dogs are in good health and we were glad to hear it.

After dropping off the dogs, we went to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf to do some reading.  I'm still working on my Bible reading and Husband got caught up on the news (and clipped some coupons too!  Definitely a first for him!)

We stopped by the in-laws house to give them some left over cupcakes on the way home.  My mother-in-law has decided to start tablescaping (and my father-in-law totally blames me, haha) and she was excited to show me all her purchases.  I hope I'll be able to share some of her tablescapes with you soon!
That afternoon Husband had a man-date with one of his pals.  They went to see Captain America.  I stayed home.  I pretended to feel left out, but I really enjoyed staying at home watching Gilmore Girls, napping, cleaning, and organizing.

Whew!  This post ended up being real word-y.  Sorry!  But I hope I didn't bore you too badly.  What were you up to this weekend?  I'd love to know (even if I don't respond to your comments)!

Weekend Recap 7/15-7/17

Husband had a minor surgery last Thursday so I stayed home on Friday.  One because neither of us slept very well the night before, and also because Husband asked me to.  Lucky for me he was feeling good enough to go see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part II.

I started reading the books freshman year of high school.  I was never a fan of fantasy and was in a stage of my life when I didn't want to read.  I was reading a lot for my English classes and that was enough for me.  J.K. Rowling changed my life, like she changed so many children's lives.  She got us reading...for fun.  And she allowed me to keep my imagination active in a world that crushes that out of children.  I have been hooked ever since Harry Potter and Socerer's Stone (or Philosopher's Stone).  It really was emotional for me for the last movie to come out.  For 12 years, it has been a major part of my life.  And yes, I did cry.  Three times.  Don't judge me :-)

I also got to see some of my sorority sisters that were in town for the weekend!  We met at Yard House for drinks and a late lunch/early dinner.

Saturday we met my cousin Kelli at Red Robin.  She is out here visiting from Texas and spending some time with her BFF from college.  They just finished their freshman year at Baylor.  Sweet girls, and it was fun to hang out for a while!!!

Old picture!

That night we had Husband's parents over for dinner.  I made a very yummy dinner, if I may say so myself, and I'll be sharing recipes later!  And this begins the part of the weekend I forgot to take pictures of!

Saturday morning we had my sorority sisters over for breakfast!

That afternoon we baby-sat our friends' kids.  Their parents wanted to go see Harry Potter and needed some one to keep their kiddos.  So Husband and I took them to Peter Piper Pizza for lunch then back to our house for movies.

And I may or may not have let them have two cupcakes while they were over.  Hey, what are friends for, right?!  :-)

Weekend Recap 7/9-10

This weekend had significantly much less activity than last weekend.  Which was ok by me!  And I'm sorry that this post is lacking in photos!

We started the weekend having dinner at Texas Roadhouse on Friday evening.  We both ordered steak and were both extremely disappointed.  Oh well, it happens!

Saturday morning Husband, Oliver and I went to the Farmer's Market downtown to pick up these yummies.

We made a quick trip to Hobby Lobby, where I was hit with a wild hair to start knitting again.  I had a brief affair with knitting while I was in England.

Sunday we did some much needed chores around the house, then picked up Husband's grandmother and met some friends for lunch.

That evening we began our Harry Potter Movie Marathon in preparation for the final chapter to be released this week.

See, a pretty low-key weekend.  Didn't even manage to take pictures!  Eek!  Anyways, I hope you all had great weekends!  Did you do anything fantastic?

(Long) Weekend Recap 7/1-7/4

I haven't done a weekend recap in a while, but I thought this long weekend would be the perfect time to start it up (and hopefully keep it up!).  We've got a mixture of camera and iPhone pics, and I think you'll get a pretty good idea of all the fun we had!

Friday was only a half day at work for me.  So we spend the afternoon at the movies seeing Transformers 3.

Saturday morning we went to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for some drinks and reading time.  I worked on my Bible in a Year and Husband is reading "Empire of the Rising Moon".

Husband took me to Chick-fil-a for lunch since he know I absolutely adore their sweet tea.  This was his first time eating there, so I felt it needed to be documented.

That afternoon I met up with some women from work for our monthly Bunko game.  I made cupcakes.

Sunday we headed north to Sedona.

I found a cool antique store.  They had some fun (and weird stuff).

Then we had a picnic in the rain.  It was only drizzling, but it made me kinda cold.  I thought it was super fun and romantic.  We had sandwiches, potato salad, chips, and cupcakes.

After our picnic we headed up to Flagstaff.  We found an arts fair in a park that was fun to walk around.

Then we headed back home to 109* temperatures.  At least we escaped for a while!

Monday we went to see Larry Crowne (I forgot a picture of this one!)

That evening we grilled some hot dogs with some more leftovers.

All in all, it was a great weekend with the perfect balance of doing things and being lazy.  How was your holiday weekend?  Do anything super exciting?

A (Bargain) Shopping Spree

And this could also kinda be considered a weekend recap including the possibility that I shop too much and have a super indulging Husband!

It all started Friday afternoon, I was waiting for Husband to
finish work.  I didn't want to go home, so I went to Marshall's first.  And that's where I found these two beauties.

They were in the clearance aisle.  Mercury glass ball was $3.50.  I was so excited to find it cause I've been longing for a mercury glass piece for a while now.  The lotus candle holder was only $3 and I think she's pretty as well!

Later that evening, after I'd picked up Husband, we stopped at Target.  I don't exactly remember why...but I needed to go.  That's when I found these cute acrylic napkin rings for $2.98 and these plates.  The large platter was $4.98, the medium, $1.98 and the small one was $1.48.  And I have a special plan for those plates, that I'll be sharin' soon!

I added the napkin rings to the tablescape I did last weekend.

Sunday we were roaming around town/waiting for "Cars 2" to start.  We had some time to spare which seemed like the perfect time to roam Marshall's again.  And since my Husband is most awesome, he agreed.  I found these cute napkin rings for $2.50 and these Paris plates for $6.99.  I'm totally in love with the plates.  I've been looking for something like these for a while now!  If only they were a little bigger...
Oh well...still love em!  Oh, and if you can't tell, the napkin rings have seashells on them.  Perfect for another summer tablescape!

After the movie (which I highly reccommend, BTW), I needed to go to Staples for some stuff (for another project I'm working on).  We got there 5 minutes after the store closed.  Dang it!  But it gave me another reason to go to Target.  Hmm...maybe I spend too much time there?  Nah...
So back to Target we went.  And I got everything I needed...along with these...

They are from the Calypso Collection and were only $5.58 a piece.  Pretty...
Then I found these for only $0.98 a piece!  Can you believe it!!!  They had pink ones too, but I opted not to buy them.  But...with Target being so close that could change. ;-)

And I loved the plates so much that I bought on Saturday I decided to buy a few more.  Each of these were $1.48.

So that was my bargain shopping spree.  I think I did fairly well and got some pretty things.  Have you scored any awesome deals lately?

Weekend Recap 3/26-27

So this post is a little late, but better late than never, right?

This was the weekend my mommy came to visit me.  She flew in Thursday night and took me shopping at Fashion Square.  Not many things beat a shopping trip with my mom!  We also had a delicious meal at an Indian Restaurant.

Friday night Husband was flew home and we all went out to dinner.  This time we had Greek food.

Saturday we woke up bright and early to go to the Renaissance Festival.

Sunday Husband dropped both my mom and I at the airport.  She headed home and I boarded a plane for LAX for my mystery destination (which I promise I'll disclose soon!)

Weekend Recap 3/19-20

This weekend Husband and I went to my first Spring Training game.  Since my family in Texas are all huge Rangers fans and they did so well last season, they were my choice to go watch.  Admittedly I am not a baseball fan, but I felt like Spring Training should be on a Phoenix bucket list.

I was hoping that I would be able to get some sun...but it was unseasonably cool and overcast.

The Rangers were playing the Mariners.  After being ahead until the 8th inning, they gave up trying and the Mariners ended up winning.  Bummer...

And we saw this awesome dude with an awesome visor with the awesome fake hair.  It was awesome!!

Sunday we met some of my sorority sisters for lunch.  They're in town visiting for their first weekend of Spring Break.  It was lots of fun, especially since I met one sister I'd never met before, but she'd heard of me.  The legacy of being Greek is so great!  After lunch we went to see "The King's Speech".  What an extraordinarily good movie!  So glad it won an Oscar along with Colin Firth.

Hmmm...maybe for my next weekend recap, I should take more pictures.  I'll work on it.  Anyways, how was your weekend?  Do anything exciting?
Hope you have an awesome week!
