April in a Nutshell

Seeing as I was MIA for most of April here are a few pictures to recap the month.

A quick trip to San Diego

Where we discovered these yummy cupcakes,

 Walked around Seaport Village

 Toured the Star of India,

 And a Soviet submarine,

  

Took a boat tour of the bay,

  

  And had a night out with friends,

 

We bought an iPad and iPhone, and officially got hooked on Angry Birds

We spent a long weekend at my parents house for Easter

 And I cut off about six inches of my hair!

We'll do a little May recap tomorrow.

A Little Bit of Easter

I never got around to bringing out my Easter decorations.  But I did do a little Easter tablescape to share with you.

Lesson 36- The Last Dinner Table

I have a confession. I didn't really make a lot of changes from our March tablescape to the one we'll use for Easter. Oh well. There are worse things in the world right?

Basically I just added some eggs. But eggs are very Easter-y... Why are eggs associated with Easter? Maybe they were Jesus' favorite food? And bunnies were his favorite animal? I think I may be taking some liberties on the holiday.

My parents are coming for the weekend today! Very excited! What are your plans for the holiday weekend? Do you have any fun and cool Easter traditions?

Lesson 35- More Nesting

Our table needed a little updating for the upcoming celebration of Jesus' life. I added some eggs...but not just any eggs. I tried having just the plain plastic eggs in a vase, but the colors were too bold for the rest of table. I didn't like it. So I took said eggs (left over from this project)

and covered them in strips of newspaper using Mod Podge (isn't that stuff great!).

When they were completely dry (about 24 hrs later), I added them to a vase with Spanish moss at the bottom.

I love the look. It's very simple and different since it's not your usual Spring colors.

Lesson 32-Nesting

I decided it was time to put another wreath on the front door. We haven't had one since Christmas and our front door looks so boring--not that anyone uses that door, but that's neither here nor there.

So with Easter right around the corner and occasional Spring weather, a birds nest was my inspiration for our Spring wreath.

* beading wire: $3 Michael's
* twine: already had from earlier projects

I picked out about 11 eggs in six different colors and threaded the wire through the holes at the top and bottom of the eggs. Next I attached the eggs to the wreath and twisted the wire to keep the eggs in place. I attached a small piece of twine to hang the wreath.



Nice and Spring-y, don't you think?
